total knee replacement rehab in Leamington Spa, Kenilworth and Warwick
If you are reading this page you have either just undergone or about to undergo surgery. This is potentially the last step for you in the quest to regain function and reduce the pain of your knee. Surgery is only undertaken when conservative methods e.g. physiotherapy have been unsuccessful. Orthopaedic consultants will ensure that their patients have had a physiotherapy assessment and course of treatment, prior to considering surgery. So if you haven't I would strongly recommend mentioning this to your consultant prior to your operation.
Unfortunately the work is only just about to start as your recovery does not finish the moment you leave the operating theatre. In order to optimise the function of your new knee it is essential to start post operative physiotherapy.
Phil will guide you through the early post operative exercises as well as progressing your gait pattern from walking with crutches or sticks back to walking pain free. He will then ensure you achieve your specific goals whether they be returning to pain free everyday life or back to playing sports.
In hospital you will be provided with some simple exercises to start the process of getting moving again. Once out of hospital Phil will come and treat you in the convenience of your own home. He will progress these early exercises, improve your walking and ensure you return to your goals, whether that be returning to sport or just pain free everyday life.
